The Directorate of Education has instructed Delhi government schools to promote the use of Delhi Metro among students and teachers.
School heads have been tasked with organizing activities such as guided tours to nearby metro stations and short metro rides. These initiatives aim to educate students about the benefits of public transport.
'All heads of schools are directed to cooperate with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to educate students about the benefits of public transportation in fostering a sustainable future,' the Directorate of Education stated in a circular on Thursday.
Schools are advised to conduct 30-minute presentations or interactive sessions on metro services, either during morning assembly or as deemed suitable.
The circular emphasized that daily activities and classroom teaching should not be disrupted and the privacy of students and staff should be maintained.
No use of computers, mobile phones, or digital cameras to exploit, harass, or bully students is allowed during the tours, the circular added.
The Directorate also prohibited uploading pictures and videos from these trips on social media without written permission.
