Investigators in Georgia are working to determine how 14-year-old Colt Gray acquired the assault rifle used in a tragic school shooting at Apalachee High School. The attack resulted in the deaths of two students and two teachers, with nine others injured. Questions remain about whether warning signs were overlooked, as Gray had been previously interviewed for making online threats about school violence.
Law enforcement officials revealed that Gray fired an AR platform-style weapon, killing Mason Schermerhorn, 14, Christian Angulo, 14, and teachers Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Christina Irimie, 53. Gray, who was taken into custody shortly after the attack, will face adult charges, according to Chris Hosey, director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Meanwhile, one teacher and eight students remain hospitalized.
The incident has reignited the ongoing national debate over gun control and the Second Amendment. Residents of Winder, Georgia, held a prayer vigil to mourn the victims. This event is the first planned school shooting of the academic year, highlighting the persistent issue of gun violence in educational institutions.
