Former Education Minister and AAP leader Manish Sisodia stated on Thursday that a teacher's salary should exceed that of an IAS officer if India aspires to become a developed country by 2047. He made the comments during a 'Shikshak Samman Samaroh,' organized by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for Teachers' Day.

"Today, we speak extensively about India's future in 2047. The teachers here today, and the children under your care, are crucial for that vision. But policymakers also need to take action," said Sisodia.

He cited examples from developed countries like Germany and Switzerland, where teachers with five years of experience earn more than their bureaucratic counterparts. Reflecting on his time in Tihar Jail, Sisodia said he dedicated 8-10 hours daily to reading, focusing largely on education systems worldwide and India's education system. Sisodia was imprisoned for 17 months in connection with an excise policy-linked money laundering case and was recently released on bail.
