Delhi University has accused St. Stephen's College of exceeding the sanctioned quota for Christian candidates in its latest seat allocation list, while also leaving seats vacant in some BA courses despite candidates meeting the required criteria.

In its initial verification of the list sent by St. Stephen's College, DU identified several 'crucial and alarming aspects' that halted the allocation process, according to a public notice. This has fueled the ongoing dispute between the university and the college over revised admission policies.

St. Stephen's College principal John Varghese argued that DU failed to open its admission portal for Christian minority students, preventing their enrollment in classes that began on August 29. He threatened legal action if the portal remained closed. The university, meanwhile, highlighted mismatches and shortcomings in the college's submitted lists.
