IIT Madras and IIT Ropar Forge Strategic Partnership for Data Science Degree

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has partnered with IIT Ropar to offer a BS degree program in Data Science. This initiative aims to provide opportunities for students to pursue higher education, including MS postgraduate programs at IIT Ropar. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has formed a strategic partnership with IIT Ropar to offer a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree program in Data Science, officials announced on Wednesday.

This collaboration will enable students to attend courses at IIT Ropar and pursue a Master of Science (MS) postgraduate program. IIT Madras Director Professor V Kamakoti highlighted the initiative's focus on democratizing higher education opportunities. 'This visionary step by IIT Ropar will build strong careers for deserving students,' Kamakoti said. Students enrolled in the BS Data Science program will gain direct admission to the MS program at IIT Ropar and spend one year studying on its campus.

IIT Ropar Director Professor Rajeev Ahuja emphasized the partnership's role in advancing education and research. 'By joining forces, IIT Ropar and IIT Madras are creating opportunities for transformative advancements,' Ahuja stated. He noted that the collaboration would also facilitate meaningful exchanges between students and faculty, paving the way for new paths in higher education and research.
