Aanya Goyal, a 17-year-old schoolgirl from London, has achieved an impressive feat by securing a silver medal for Team India in the European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) in the Netherlands. The Indian squad celebrated its best performance ever, winning two bronze medals and one honourable mention at the event.

A pupil at Alleyn's School in Dulwich, Goyal competed against the top coders from 50 countries in Veldhoven over the weekend. Leveraging her problem-solving skills, she designed innovative solutions to tackle complex algorithmic and coding challenges.

"I feel very proud to have won a silver medal for India during a time when competitive programming is gaining popularity worldwide, especially in India," Goyal remarked. The EGOI competition involved two intense sessions of five hours each, where participants had to solve difficult problems within stringent time constraints.

Inspired by her team and mentors, including IOI silver medallist Paras Kasmalkar, Goyal dedicated her medal to her teammates and coaching staff. She now aims to inspire more girls to enter fields like mathematics and computer science and hopes to see Team India double its medal tally at the Paris Olympics 2024.
