Himachal Pradesh Cabinet Plans Monsoon Session, Shutters 99 Schools

The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has recommended convening the Monsoon Session from August 27 to September 9 in Shimla. The Cabinet also decided to close 99 government schools due to zero enrolments and approved the merger of schools with low enrolments. Additionally, new administrative changes were announced.

The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has advised the governor to convene the Monsoon Session of the state assembly from August 27 to September 9 in Shimla. The decision was made on Thursday at a crucial Cabinet meeting.

The session will include 10 sittings, and the same Cabinet has resolved to shut down 89 government primary schools (GPS) and 10 government middle schools (GMS) due to zero enrolments. Additionally, GPS and GMS with five or fewer students will be merged within a specified radius.

The Cabinet also announced the creation of a new Police District and a Public Works Department Circle in Dehra, marking significant administrative changes in the region.
