The Government e Marketplace (GeM) has significantly advanced its educational outreach with the launch of its new Learning Management System (LMS), now accessible in twelve official languages. This pioneering initiative aims to improve procurement processes by providing comprehensive training in a multilingual, interactive format.

Launched earlier this year, the GeM LMS offers SCORM-compliant e-Learning courses with a user-friendly interface available in Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odiya, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu. This expansion caters to a wide range of users across India, enhancing accessibility and learning efficiency.

The LMS features a Four-Level Buyer Certification program, designed to progressively educate users and offer valuable certifications. The platform allows users to select their learning path based on topics or certification levels, optimizing the training experience.

Shri Prashant Kumar Singh, CEO of GeM, emphasized the importance of this multilingual LMS: “With the emphasis on utilizing GeM for procurement by all government agencies, it was imperative that proper avenues of learning be provided to stakeholders to help them understand the policies, functionalities, and navigate the portal with ease. The interactive and multilingual LMS has been rolled out in twelve official languages to meet this need.”

Since its launch four months ago, the GeM LMS has seen a dramatic 32-fold increase in user registration, with over 4,000 users enrolled in various courses. Additionally, more than 600 Buyer certificates have been issued. Shri Singh noted, “The rollout of this multilingual learning tool ensures better comprehension of intricate public procurement processes, facilitating greater adoption of the GeM portal among State/Local Government Buyers and last-mile sellers across India.”

The LMS aligns with international learning and development standards, addressing the diverse needs of Government Buyers, Sellers/Service Providers, and all GeM users. It provides tailored training courses to meet different skill levels and requirements, enabling users to explore and understand the GeM ecosystem at their own pace.

GeM's expanded LMS platform sets a new benchmark for government learning and capacity building, offering an engaging, multilingual learning experience that supports users across various regions and language proficiencies. This initiative fosters trust and encourages wider adoption of the GeM platform by ensuring all users have the necessary skills to navigate and utilize the system effectively.
