Recently, Botswanan Parliament passed a bill that would allow the citizens in the country to run businesses from their residence without acquiring licenses. This will allow the people not only to run businesses without acquiring licenses, they can continue as long as they want from the confines of their homes. This announcement was made by the President of Botswana, Mokgweetsi Masisi on August 12 via his Twitter handle.

Botswana’s Head of State, Mokgweetsi Masisi has again taken to Twitter today and reminded his countrymen of his commitments that he made of creating jobs to address the unemployment in the next 5 years through digital innovation, agriculture, tourism, mining, education, pharmaceuticals, solar energy, manufacturing etc. including electric car.

In another tweet, Mokgweetsi Masisi reveals how he and his government is serious about creating jobs for the youth through arts, creative and entertainment sector. “We’ll revamp our Mass Media complex studios ASAP!” he tweeted.

Masisi clarified in another tweet that his government has taken ideas and came up with solutions by simplifying the manifesto into 15 different focus areas that will be unpacked daily. Those are – Create sustainable and meaning jobs in 5 years, Fight corruption, Nurture inclusive governance, Guarantee free media, Comprehensive constitution and policies’ review, Improve education and training, Drive knowledge-based economy, Grow private sector, Empower SMEs, Update land tenure laws, Improve working conditions, Robust service delivery, Provide quality healthcare, Revamp social development, and Attract local and international investors.

He further assured that the land tenure laws would be updated soon to enable the people of Botswana in running home-grown businesses and utilize 50 percent of the owned-farm for non-farming activities.
