World Entrepreneurs’ Day celebrated at ICFAI University

An event was organized at ICFAI University on the eve of World Entrepreneurs’ Day on August 21 to build awareness on innovation and entrepreneurship and honour them for their contribution in making the world a better place to live. More than 15 entrepreneurs from Jharkhand, including a number of women entrepreneurs, were invited by the university to share their entrepreneurship journeys.
“An Entrepreneur can change and influence the world around us by providing appropriate products and services," said Prof. Arvind Kumar, Registrar of ICFAI University, Jharkhand. Giving examples of innovative entrepreneurs across the world, India and Jharkhand, Prof Kumar highlighted that over 22 alumni of the university have become entrepreneurs, which includes 2 students that graduated in 2018. “As per the aspiration survey of the students, admitted in 2019, 19% of them want to start their own business on completion of their graduation and our University is committed to help all of them in that regard”, added Prof. Kumar.
Sharing his experience as an entrepreneur Mr. Abhishek Narsarai from Rollicks Ice Cream explained that major challenges faced by entrepreneurs are financing and attraction of right talent. Ms Malvika Sharma, Director of Butterfly project, who motivated and counselled a number of entrepreneurs, explained the challenges faced by social entrepreneurs, particularly in Eastern India. On this occasion, Jharkhand Ratna Shri Birsa Munda also addressed the gathering and narrated how within a very short period of time, through his hard work and commitment has changed the living condition of his and neighbouring villages through improved farming.
Other entrepreneurs that explained their experiences in setting up business include Ms. Rashmi Saha, Driems, Cuttack, Ms. Alka Singh, Butterfly Project, Mr. Ravi Singh, Sampurna Krishi Utthan Foundation, Mr. Shaurya Kumar Sinha, Kaffe Express Foundation, Mr. Ravi Tirkey, Tribal Matrimony, Mr. Bijendra Sharma, Horizon Softtech, Shri Birsa Munda, Birsa Munda Beej Padak Kisan Samiti, Shri Anand Sanjeet Purty, Purty Farm, Mr. Ashok Badhan, Milestone Event, Mrs. Pallavi, Paratha Point and Mr. Sheyakur Rehaman, IAS Academy. Mr. Anurag Srivastava, Mr. Tusheet Verma and Mr. Utpal Kumar, alumni of the university who became entrepreneurs, also narrated their success stories.
