After a long wait, the fifth edition of China Trade Week Kenya has been launched in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. The event has over 500 exhibitors showcasing their high-end products from the Asian country.

Eugene Wamalwa, Kenya’s cabinet secretary for the Ministry of Devolution and ASAL opened the China Trade Week expo, which is likely to attract more than 30,000 visitors who are eager to buy items ranging from electronic goods, textiles, home appliances including automotive parts.

“Kenya is a rising economy that is keen to strengthen bilateral trade with China through exhibitions as well as business to business forums. The China Trade Week presents a platform for us to exchange knowledge and ideas that can promote fruitful economic partnership,” Eugene Wamalwa opined, as reported by Xinhua.

China Trade Week is supposed to run in two phases. The first phase, which runs between June 5 and 7, will showcase products utilized in the construction sector, packaging materials, textiles, furniture and water treatment technologies. On the other hand, the second phase, which is supposed to run between June 10 and 12, will showcase the products like agriculture machinery, automotive parts, consumer goods, Information Technology solutions and electrical appliances.

The regular exhibitions are key to promote Sino-Kenya bilateral trade that has been on a growth trajectory in the recent past, according to the minister counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Kenya, Zhao Xiyuan.
