Opened on April 29 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia-Sudan Business Forum (aka Ethio-Sudan Business Forum) is intended at strengthening business relations between the two countries.

The Permanent Secretary of Economic Diplomacy at the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dawano Kedir pointed out in the opening remarks that the business ties between Ethiopia and Sudan is ‘below the level of expectation.’

“While the two countries have enormous potential for trade and investment, a lot of efforts are required to improve the existing relations,” Dawano Kedir opined. Therefore, he stressed that Ethiopia and Sudan are now active and engaged to exploit the business opportunities between them.

“Absence of inter-banking system between Ethiopia and Sudan crippled the trade relations in both countries,” President of Sudan’s Business Association in Ethiopia, Al Ageed Hassan.
