German Agri-Business has decided to take advantage of Zambia’s growing potato business by commencing its operation anytime in 2019.
According to Frank Nordman, President of German Agri-Business, the company will locally produce French fries or chips for both the Zambian and regional markets. The company will start its operation anytime this year. He said that the company wants to utilize the advantage of growing potato business in Zambia.
Frank Nordman was speaking while paying a courtesy call on Anthony Mukwita, Zambia’s Ambassador to Germany at the embassy offices on Axel Springer Street in Berlin. According to him, under the auspices of German Agribusiness Alliance, about ten German businesses and a seven-member Ministerial delegation will be attending the Zambian annual Agri Tech show in Chisamba from April 9 to 12 this year.
He further said the German farmers in Zambia have already developed their potato growing leading to complete satisfaction of the local market and making unnecessary their import from outside the country. “We can assure you Your Excellency that we are able to fully supply the Zambian market with potatoes without recourse to outside suppliers,” Nordman opined.
This is according to a statement released to ZNBC News by First Secretary for Press and Public Relations at the Zambian Embassy in Berlin Kellys Kaunda.
