Trent, a retail arm of the Tata Group, is poised for further growth, according to its chairman Noel Tata. Despite recent expansion, the company still considers itself in the early stages of its development, aiming to increase its revenues tenfold in the foreseeable future.
Trent oversees several brands, including Westside, Zudio, and Star Bazaar. Tata highlighted the importance of building clear brand identities across diverse market categories, with aspirations to introduce homegrown brands to international audiences. This aligns with India's larger goal of enhancing value-added exports.
The company has seen substantial growth, with revenue and profitability increasing over 2.5 times. Trent's operations in FY26 reached Rs 19,701 crore, with 1,286 stores across 321 cities. Tata emphasized the need for a multi-brand strategy to cater to varied customer demands, both in India and globally.
Reflecting on Trent's growth journey from its first Westside store in Bengaluru to a wide network today, he described it as a transition from Lakmé into a significant business. Tata expressed satisfaction seeing Trent evolve while maintaining Tata values.
