Bengaluru-Mumbai Train Service Launch Heralds New Connectivity Era
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated a new train service between Bengaluru and Mumbai, marking enhanced connectivity for Karnataka and Maharashtra. The initiative is part of a broader infrastructure push that includes multiple station redevelopments, ongoing suburban projects, and high-speed rail expansions, aiming to boost regional development.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw virtually inaugurated a train service connecting Bengaluru and Mumbai, indicating a significant stride in regional connectivity between Karnataka and Maharashtra. This development fulfills long-standing demands and is part of a broader push to bolster the railway infrastructure.
Underlining the importance of this launch, Vaishnaw revealed plans for the Vande Bharat sleeper service to commence soon. He also announced the allocation of funds under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to redevelop 61 stations at a budget of Rs 2,160 crore. Among these, nine stations have already seen completion, such as the redeveloped Bengaluru Cantonment and upgraded Yeshwantpur stations.
Further, complex electrification and the extensive doubling of railway lines demonstrate Karnataka's infrastructural growth. Upcoming projects include bullet train corridors linking Bengaluru with Hyderabad and Chennai, along with an extensive high-speed rail network slated to expand to 7,000 km, aligning with India's long-term rail connectivity vision.
