Commuters on Mumbai Metro Line 1 between Ghatkopar and Versova endured frustrating delays on Thursday morning. Overnight maintenance led to temporary speed restrictions during peak hours, resulting in overcrowded platforms and longer wait times for passengers.
The Metro operator attributed the interruptions to standard safety protocols that necessitated speed curbs after essential rail grinding activity to improve track quality. However, many passengers expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of timely alerts or real-time updates, which added to public inconvenience.
According to riders, there were no public updates until 10 am, even though issues began earlier in the morning. The maintenance work, a collaboration with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited, aims to enhance track performance. A response from the Metro operator's spokesperson is still pending.
