JSW Steel, led by Sajjan Jindal, has entered a joint venture with South Korean giant POSCO to create a 6 million tonnes annually steel plant in Odisha. Announced at the India-Korea Business Forum, this partnership is set to enhance India's steel production capacity significantly.
The joint venture marks a vital step toward strengthening strategic collaboration between JSW Steel and POSCO. Utilizing POSCO's advanced technology, the plant will produce high-grade flat steel products, especially for automotive industries, enriching the Indian steel ecosystem.
Land issues doomed a previous POSCO project in Odisha, but this new venture, expected to commence by 2031, promises a seamless execution. The project will also facilitate POSCO's access to India's burgeoning market, with anticipated regulatory approvals in view.
