JSW Steel and POSCO Forge Strategic Joint Venture for Odisha Steel Plant
JSW Steel's board has approved a joint venture with South Korea's POSCO Group to develop a 6 million tonne steel project in Odisha, India. This venture, equal parts JSW Steel and POSCO, aims to advance high-grade steel production and deepen strategic ties and technological collaboration between the two companies.

On Friday, JSW Steel's board sanctioned a landmark agreement with South Korea's POSCO Group to establish a joint venture. This collaboration is set to develop a 6 million tonne steel plant in Odisha, India, marking a significant stride in steel production.
The joint venture will see Saffron Resources Private Limited, a subsidiary of JSW Steel, evolve into a 50:50 partnership, courtesy of the Share Subscription and Joint Venture Agreement. This strategic alignment will allocate 887 acres in Odisha for the plant's development, with POSCO investing Rs 508.8 crore.
The collaboration aims to leverage POSCO's technological edge to produce high-grade steel, particularly for automotive use, strengthening ties and technological synergy between the two giants.
