Maharashtra Mobilizes Rs 648 Crore Relief for Flood-Stricken Farmers

The Maharashtra government has taken decisive action by approving a relief fund of Rs 648.15 crore to assist farmers burdened by the recent excessive rainfall and floods. This substantial amount aims to provide immediate financial assistance to the affected agrarian community.

In a significant policy shift, the relief limit has been extended from the previous two hectares to three hectares, as announced by the Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Makarand Jadhav-Patil. A necessary government resolution has been issued to expedite the aid to rain-affected farmers, ensuring timely support.

The approved relief package is set to benefit 6,12,177 farmers, spanning an affected crop area of 6,56,310.83 hectares. Financial aid distribution has been segmented across various divisions, with Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar receiving Rs 346.31 crore and several other divisions allocated specific funds to assist thousands more farmers.
