ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has commenced steps to acquire land in Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh for a new, advanced steel plant in Rajayapeta. The initial transaction has been completed, paving the way for the construction phase of this greenfield project.

The steel facility is designed with an estimated capacity of 7.3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and aligns with India's national goal of reaching 300 MTPA in crude steel production by 2030. This initiative dovetails with the broader 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' endeavor, underlining self-reliance in manufacturing. Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, expressed full support, emphasizing potential job creation and economic development.

Lakshmi Mittal, Executive Chairman of ArcelorMittal, highlighted the project as a pivotal moment for Indian steelmaking and a bolster to the country's global manufacturing status. Aditya Mittal underscored the joint venture's commitment to local economic upliftment and expanding India's steel manufacturing footprint. The Government of Andhra Pradesh assured swift business facilitation for AM/NS's integration into the state.
