Members of the Lok Sabha recently called for the government to tackle the issue of exorbitant airfares, emphasizing its impact on affordability and airline regulation standards.
During a private member's resolution discussion, BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy criticized airlines for transferring operational costs to passengers and highlighted an increased demand for air travel services among MPs. Independent MP Abdul Rashid decried pricing policies harming travelers who fly out of necessity, while also suggesting the introduction of regulated helicopter services to remote locations.
Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu addressed these concerns by mentioning the government's UDAN initiative, aimed at making air travel more accessible with reasonably priced food items at airports. The discussion will continue, as the minister plans to respond comprehensively later.
