Starting April 1, Karnataka will witness a Rs 4 per litre increase in milk prices, a move sanctioned by the state government to aid farmers beset by rising production expenses. State Cooperation Minister K N Rajanna made the announcement on Thursday.
The decision responds to intensified lobbying by milk federations and farmers seeking monetary relief. Initially, farmers requested a Rs 5 increase, but settled for Rs 4 that directly benefits them.
The state's Animal Husbandry Minister, K Venkatesh, highlighted the necessity of this revision as Karnataka's milk rates remain competitive despite new adjustments designed to sustain the agricultural community.
