Ukraine's national railway company, Ukrzaliznytsia, has managed to partially restore its online services following a significant cyber attack that affected passenger and freight systems. The disruption initially reported on Sunday forced passengers to purchase tickets physically at stations or on board the trains.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, its online systems were the target of a severe cyberattack, but a backup sales system for buying tickets is now operational. Although services have been restored, the company cautions passengers about possible service delays due to high demand.
Since the resumption of online services, the first 12,000 tickets have been successfully sold. Ukrzaliznytsia advises commuters to use the app only for essential travel needs as the system is experiencing peak loads.
