The US economy experienced a robust growth of 2.4% annually in the fourth quarter of 2024, driven primarily by a significant increase in consumer spending, as confirmed by the government's revised estimates on Thursday.
Despite this positive trend, questions linger about the sustainability of this growth trajectory in light of President Donald Trump's controversial trade policies, reductions in the federal workforce, and aggressive immigration strategies, which include deportations of illegal immigrants.
According to the Commerce Department, the gross domestic product, reflecting the nation's total output of goods and services, slowed from 3.1% in the previous quarter. Nonetheless, the entire year of 2024 saw the US economy, the world's largest, expanding by 2.8%.
