Women Direct Sellers Propel India's Direct Selling Industry to New Heights
India's direct selling industry has hit an all-time high in FY 2023-24, achieving a turnover of Rs 22,142 crores, up 4.4% from the previous year. Women, now 44% of direct sellers, drive impressive growth, with wellness products leading the market. The industry benefits from government support and strategic business practices.

Women are making significant strides in India's direct selling industry, rising from 37% to 44% of the workforce, as revealed by a recent survey. The northern region dominates with nearly 30% of gross sales, followed by the east at 24.2%. Wellness products remain the top sellers, with cosmetics and personal care following.
India's direct selling sector has reached unprecedented growth, boasting a turnover of Rs 22,142 crores in FY 2023-24, a 4.4% increase from the previous year. This surge, detailed in the Annual Survey Report by the Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) and announced by Union Minister Chirag Paswan, showcases a steady expansion with a CAGR of 7.15% over the past five years.
The report highlights a 64.15% share of total sales from wellness and nutraceuticals, with cosmetics and personal care contributing 23.75%. Maharashtra leads with a 13% share in state-wise sales. Paswan praised the industry's role in job creation and emphasized government initiatives to enhance business environments and support the sector's continued growth.
