In a dramatic discovery at Jaipur International Airport, gold worth Rs 70 lakh was recovered from the private parts of a passenger arriving from Riyadh. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials made the arrest following a tip-off.
The smuggling operation unraveled as officials zeroed in on suspicious behavior exhibited by the passenger during customs checks, prompting further investigation. An X-ray revealed the hidden gold paste, leading to the arrest of both the passenger and mastermind Ajay Fageria, who traveled on the same flight.
Fageria is known to compensate gold carriers with earnings between Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000 per trip, according to DRI officials. This arrest highlights the persistent challenge of smuggling operations targeting airport security protocols.
