JGU Hosts Kos Minar International Documentary Fest: A Celebration of Cinema and Storytelling

O.P. Jindal Global University's 15th anniversary celebrations were marked by the Kos Minar International Documentary Film Festival held from March 21-23, 2025. The event, hosted by the Jindal School of Journalism and Communication (JSJC), drew students, faculty, and film enthusiasts from across the globe, celebrating the art of documentary filmmaking.
The festival was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) C. Rajkumar, who emphasized the power of a good idea in film. Registrar Prof. Dabiru Sridhar Patnaik called it a celebration of cinema, storytelling, and human resilience. JSJC Dean Prof. Kishalay Bhattacharjee highlighted documentaries' role in bringing international recognition to Indian cinema.
The Kos Minar Festival featured a wide array of compelling documentaries, commemorating filmmaker Kumar Shahani, with a keynote by Ashish Rajadhyaksha. Highlights included Payal Kapadia's 'A Night of Knowing Nothing' and other award-winning films, engaging audiences in discussions on marginalization, resilience, and storytelling. Filmmakers shared personal insights, further enriching the festival experience.
