TelCables West Africa, a subsidiary of global connectivity leader Angola Cables, has partnered with leading global Network as a Service (NaaS) provider, Megaport, to deliver a groundbreaking solution set to reshape the digital infrastructure of West Africa. The new partnership enables TelCables customers to connect to more than 930 data centres and over 300 cloud nodes worldwide—at a significantly reduced cost and with drastically improved access speeds.

Thanks to this collaboration, customers in Nigeria, Ghana, and neighboring countries will benefit from network cost savings of up to 75% while enjoying seamless, low-latency access to global cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, and Google Cloud. This is made possible through the international Angola Cables’ high-capacity subsea and terrestrial backbone network.

A Super Corridor for Global Connectivity

Angola Cables' strategically positioned network infrastructure spans critical international hubs including New York, Miami, and London. With the integration of Megaport’s NaaS capabilities, customers can now provision real-time circuits to over 530 data centres in the United States and 260+ data centres across Europe, ensuring 99.99% uptime and minimal latency.

“This effectively creates a ‘super corridor’ that accelerates data transit from East to West,” says Fernando Fernandes, CEO of TelCables Nigeria and West Africa. “We are unlocking a new era of digital connectivity for the African continent, offering businesses, institutions, and governments unprecedented access to international markets and services.”

This infrastructure alignment means that data-heavy workloads, especially in AI, financial services, and content delivery, can now be cached and hosted closer to users in West Africa. Local users can engage with content and services previously available only through expensive, long-haul connections with high latency.

Flexible, Affordable, and Instant Connectivity

One of the standout features of the partnership is the on-demand, scalable connectivity enabled by Megaport’s user-friendly interface. Businesses across West Africa can now set up low-latency links in minutes, bypassing the traditional weeks-long process of provisioning cross-border network infrastructure.

Fernandes notes that this opens up a world of opportunity for local enterprises, saying, “Whether you’re a fintech startup, an educational institution, a medical research facility, or an enterprise looking to expand globally—this partnership gives you the flexibility to connect, scale, and grow instantly, without the heavy capital costs.”

Megaport’s global SDN (software-defined network) eliminates common barriers such as complex configurations, high set-up costs, and performance bottlenecks. With access to over 300 service providers and a growing ecosystem of AI Exchange and Financial Services Exchange platforms, TelCables users can tap into powerful global resources effortlessly.

A Leap Forward for Africa’s Digital Transformation

According to Matt Simpson, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Global Channel at Megaport, the collaboration is a strategic milestone. “Africa’s economic and digital future depends on scalable, secure, and globally integrated network solutions. Through our partnership with TelCables and Angola Cables, we are creating a reliable bridge for businesses in emerging markets to connect with the world.”

He adds that the Megaport ecosystem is particularly designed to support the modern needs of businesses using cloud, AI, and financial services infrastructure. “Our platform simplifies complex network challenges, empowering users to deploy services on-demand with enterprise-grade performance.”

Supporting Africa’s Growing Cloud and AI Needs

As industries across Africa embrace cloud computing, AI solutions, and cross-border financial platforms, the demand for high-quality, international-grade connectivity is on the rise. This partnership between TelCables West Africa and Megaport addresses those needs directly.

The move is also aligned with broader goals to support Africa’s digital economy, especially in light of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and increasing investments in regional digital infrastructure.

“Being the most interconnected network operator on the African continent, we are uniquely positioned to offer local businesses a fast lane to global markets,” says Fernandes. “This isn’t just about technology—it’s about creating the foundation for economic growth, job creation, and cross-border collaboration.”

Looking Ahead

With the groundwork now in place, both companies have committed to further expanding their joint capabilities to serve more countries and industries across Africa. Future phases may include deeper integration with hyperscale cloud platforms, edge computing solutions, and even stronger AI-driven data exchange systems.

For TelCables customers and the wider business ecosystem in West Africa, this partnership marks a transformative shift—one that places them at the center of a dynamic, globally connected digital landscape.
