Empowering India's MSMEs: Dx-EDGE Launches Digital Transformation Platform

In a bid to propel India's Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) towards growth, NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam stressed the need for addressing their challenges in clusters at a recent event in New Delhi. Speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) launch, he outlined the pivotal role of MSMEs in India's economic landscape, predicting their evolution into the large enterprises of tomorrow. He emphasized the government's role in guiding MSMEs through various growth stages, transforming them from micro to large enterprises.
Highlighting the three main challenges faced by MSMEs—technology improvement, skilled workforce, and quality certifications—as barriers to India's development aspirations, Subrahmanyam emphasized the importance of education and skill development in achieving the 'Viksit Bharat' vision. He unveiled the Digital Excellence for Growth and Enterprise (Dx-EDGE) platform, designed to equip MSMEs with the necessary digital tools and ecosystem for future readiness and resilience.
Dx-EDGE, a national initiative led by CII with support from NITI Frontier Tech Hub and AICTE, aims to digitally transform India's MSMEs by bridging technology gaps and fostering partnerships. It seeks to provide inclusive access to technology, nurture capacities, and integrate MSMEs into the global value chain, thereby enhancing their competitiveness. SCL Das of the MSME Ministry reinforced the necessity of digitalization and tech adaptation for growth and resilience. Meanwhile, other leaders highlighted India's STEM strengths and the critical need for job creation as youth join the workforce.
