Assam witnessed a tumultuous protest as Jatiya Yuva Shakti rallied against alleged financial irregularities at Assam Cooperative Apex Bank. The demonstration, held at the bank's Panbazar headquarters, called for a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged financial discrepancies.
The protest took a dramatic turn when Dilwar Hussain Mozumdar, a senior journalist covering the event, was detained by police without an official explanation. Mozumdar, who also serves as the assistant general secretary of the Gauhati Press Club, had challenged the bank's management on the financial allegations.
The youth wing accused the state government of ignoring substantial evidence of corruption. Among the accusations were the bank's IT contract lapses and a significant rise in infrastructure costs. The state government responded by directing an investigation, demanding a report within 15 days.
