On Tuesday, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) greenlit Epic Concesiones 2's proposal to acquire 11 special purpose vehicles (SPVs) from Ashoka Concessions Ltd and Ashoka Buildcon Ltd. The move signals a major shift in the landscape of road and highway operations in India.

The SPVs, integral to India's road infrastructure, are set to be fully acquired by Epic Concesiones 2 Pvt Ltd (EC2PL), a company under the umbrella of Infrastructure Yield Plus II and IIA—both registered infrastructure alternative investment funds. Heading these funds is EAAA India Alternatives Ltd, a subsidiary of Edelweiss Financial Services Ltd (EFSL).

Adding to the momentum, the CCI further approved a combination involving Maple Infrastructure Trust, CDPQ Infrastructures Asia III Inc, and others in the acquisition of road assets by Cube Highways Trust. With these developments, India's infrastructure sector is poised for substantial growth and modernization.
