Maharashtra's transport minister, Pratap Sarnaik, has refuted claims of improper conduct in awarding a contract for high-security registration plates designed for older vehicles.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anil Parab raised concerns in the legislative council, suggesting that the contract was improperly awarded before the formation of the current state cabinet.
Sarnaik responded by labeling the allegations as baseless, emphasizing that the tender process adhered to due diligence. Notably, 16.58 lakh vehicles have registered for new plates, with ongoing efforts to increase this number by June 30.
