Iron Ore Export Resumes from Goa Amid Limited Mining Leases
Goa's legislative assembly reveals that only two mining leases are currently operational in the state, with iron ore exports underway from Vedanta Ltd's Block-I. The export of 3.78 lakh metric tonnes is part of the 2024-25 financial year, while applications for contractor registration are in process.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant addressed the legislative assembly, revealing that just two mining leases are currently active in the state.
Responding to a query from Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, Sawant disclosed that 3.78 lakh metric tonnes of iron ore have been exported from Goa in the fiscal year 2024-25. The statement was made during the three-day budget session, which began on Monday.
Sawant, who holds the mining portfolio, specified that operations are ongoing in Block-I of Vedanta Ltd and Block-V of Fomento Resources Pvt Ltd. Iron ore export from Block-I has commenced, but Block-V activities have yet to start. Applications for contractor registrations, notably from Vedanta Ltd and SKK Infra Solutions Private Ltd, have been submitted.
