Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal has called on the government to extend the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme to small industries. According to Kaur, such a move would significantly boost job creation and enhance both exports and revenue.
Addressing the Lok Sabha during the discussion on the Finance Bill, 2025, Kaur emphasized the existing PLI scheme's focus on large corporate houses, urging a revision to include industries that generate employment. She argued that small industries, such as the sports goods and Moradabad's brass industry, could substantially increase jobs, revenue, and exports if supported.
Kaur critiqued the government's job creation strategies, stressing the importance of the MSME sector, which contributes significantly to GDP and exports. She also highlighted the lack of emphasis on issues like MSP for farmers and the pressure from external forces to open the Indian agriculture sector.
