Brendan Lynch, Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia, will visit India for five days starting Tuesday. His visit is aimed at discussing potential solutions to escalating tariff tensions just before new US tariffs come into effect.
Throughout his visit, Lynch will meet with Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and other senior officials to explore the possibility of securing a temporary waiver for India from these tariffs. Both nations are interested in crafting a bilateral trade pact to address market access and levy-related issues.
Amidst fears of an impending global trade war, following US President Trump's tariff announcements, India remains engaged in negotiations to reduce tariffs and enhance bilateral trade with the US. The discussions are part of wider efforts by India to lower tariffs and strengthen trade ties globally.
