Peptech Biosciences Ltd., a leading B2B agri-biotech company, has successfully acquired cutting-edge technology from the National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources (NBAIR). This technology centers on a liquid formulation of indigenous toxic strains of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) and promises to revolutionize pest control in agriculture.
According to extensive field trials by NBAIR, the Bacillus thuringiensis NBAIR BtG4, when applied as a foliar spray at a 2% concentration, has shown remarkable efficacy. The trials recorded a significant reduction in pod damage in pigeon peas, alongside a substantial boost in grain yield. This underlines the technology's potential in enhancing crop productivity while posing minimal environmental threat.
Expressing enthusiasm over the acquisition, Suresh Singla, Director of Peptech Biosciences, lauded the move as a testament to their commitment to sustainable agricultural solutions. The Bangalore-based company, known for its robust portfolio of Bio-Fertilizers, Bio-Stimulants, and other innovative products, aims to transform agricultural practices by providing effective and eco-friendly alternatives to chemical pesticides.
