An aircraft carrying over 30 passengers, including high-profile figures like Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and Director General of Police Atul Verma, narrowly missed the designated landing area at Jubbarhatti Airport on Monday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the aircraft exceeded the runway threshold and collided with markers at the airstrip's edge. Post-incident inspections are underway to ascertain if a technical error was at fault, according to airport officials.
"The runway is notably small, exacerbating landing challenges," Agnihotri explained to reporters. He further noted an issue during the landing approach, resulting in the plane coming precariously close to the strip's end. Passengers waited onboard for approximately 20-25 minutes following the incident, leading to the cancellation of a subsequent flight to Dharamshala.
