A tragic accident unfolded at the Lachhiwala toll plaza on the Haridwar-Dehradun road early Monday morning when a speeding dumper truck collided with several cars, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, authorities reported.
The incident occurred around 7:30 am when a tipper truck from Dehradun rammed three vehicles queued at the toll plaza. One car was severely mangled, trapping two individuals who were later identified as Ratanmani Uniyal and Pankaj Kumar, both employed at the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court in Tehri.
Emergency personnel, including police and SDRF teams, worked diligently to rescue the victims and clear the wreckage. The dumper driver has been detained, as preliminary investigations point to brake failure or overspeeding as potential causes, police stated.
