JSW MG Motor India has achieved a significant environmental milestone by becoming the first Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in India to introduce a Green Pretreatment line in its paint shop. This innovation employs ambient temperature phosphate technology, developed by PPG Asian Paints, substantially cutting carbon emissions by approximately 1800 tons annually.
The new technology, operating at a cooler 38°C, allows for considerable fuel savings by eliminating the need for additional heating, thereby lowering overall fuel consumption. According to Biju Balendran, Deputy Managing Director at JSW MG Motor, sustainability is a core value driving their innovative practices, as evidenced by this advanced line that marks a new industry benchmark.
PPG Asian Paints CEO Jitendra Kalra highlighted the successful partnership between the two companies as a testament to their joint commitment toward sustainable development. Past initiatives, such as the use of ULTRAX Degreaser and other eco-friendly technologies, have cumulatively resulted in a 47% reduction in carbon emissions since 2022, setting an impressive example for the global automotive industry.
