The UK India Business Council (UKIBC) is optimistic as the UK and India re-engage in Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations. This move comes after UK's Business and Trade Secretary, Jonathan Reynolds, visited India to meet with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.

Reynolds highlighted the strategic importance of clinching a deal with India, soon to be the world's third-largest economy. He emphasized the UK government's commitment to advancing these talks, as bilateral trade has witnessed a remarkable increase to £42 billion by mid-2024.

The FTA aims to touch on critical areas like tariffs, market access, and digital trade, potentially reinforcing investments and market dynamics. This development also aligns with India's ambitions under the Viksit Bharat@2047 project, nurturing the economic and strategic bond between the nations.
