On Monday, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah sought to ease concerns regarding the proposed direct rail service between Kashmir and Jammu. He assured that the development would stimulate economic growth in the region rather than hamper it, following the virtual inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing a gathering, Abdullah conveyed optimism, citing the recent successful trial of the train from Srinagar to Katra. He assured Jammu citizens that the completed railway line would enhance trade and tourism and facilitate seamless travel between Kashmir and Jammu.
Reflecting on his tenure, Abdullah praised PM Modi's leadership in advancing regional connectivity. These efforts include ambitious infrastructure projects like the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway and the Zojila tunnel, poised to significantly improve access and stimulate local industries.
