Visakhapatnam Port's Rs 300 Crore Flyover Project to Boost Traffic

The Visakhapatnam Port Authority and Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd have inked a Rs 300 crore agreement to construct a flyover. This project aims to reduce congestion and enhance cargo movement by eliminating 11 level crossings, improving traffic management in and around the port area.

The Visakhapatnam Port Authority has entered into a significant agreement with Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd, earmarking Rs 300 crore for a transformative infrastructure project. This development will see the construction of a flyover aimed at easing congestion and ensuring seamless movement of cargo traffic towards the port.

The project, designed for optimizing traffic flow and facilitating smooth cargo evacuation, will impact the areas surrounding the port and critical sections of the city leading to it. By tackling these bottlenecks, the initiative is poised to enhance the region's logistical efficiency substantially.

The flyover bridge, connecting Seahorse Junction to the Vizag Port dock area, will stretch over 3.3 km. With a carriageway of two-lane (7 meters wide) and three-lane (10.5 meters wide) sections, this infrastructure is set to eliminate 11 level crossings presently hindering traffic, ensuring improved port access.
