The India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) is pushing for a simplified tariff framework to boost India's competitive edge in manufacturing. The association argues that the current complex tariff regime is hampering the industry's growth.
In its Budget recommendations for 2025-26, ICEA has suggested reducing duties on specific components, including printed circuit board assemblies and camera modules, from 2.5% to zero. The move aims to lower manufacturing costs and enhance the country's export potential.
Additionally, ICEA advocates for the rationalization of duties on open cell inputs for television manufacturing and components for hearable devices to support the growing domestic market.
