Maharashtra Moves to Revolutionize Transport with AI and Sustainable Policies
Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is pushing for increased AI usage in transport to reduce road accidents. The state plans to scrap vehicles over 15 years old, partner with Google for enhanced security, and introduce new policies for electric vehicles, bike taxis, and safety protocols in high-risk areas.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has tasked the state transport department with boosting the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to curb road mishaps.
In a meeting at the Sahyadri guest house, Fadnavis called for policy enforcement to scrap vehicles older than 15 years, including over 13,000 government vehicles. Older state transport buses are to be retrofitted or replaced with LNG and CNG kits.
Additionally, the Chief Minister announced plans to roll out an electric vehicle policy within three years and instructed the introduction of bike taxi and maxi cab services to improve urban mobility. Safety procedures for buses in accident-prone areas are also a top priority.
