Kolkata's Metro Railway is set to bolster security measures on New Year's Eve, primarily focusing on the bustling Park Street station and several stops along the Blue Line. Teams will monitor activities round-the-clock via CCTV from the central control room, enhancing commuter safety.
In anticipation of heavy foot traffic at critical stations like Esplanade, Park Street, and Dakshineswar, the Metro has planned to operate six special trains after 9.40 pm. Additionally, well-trained Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel will be stationed at crucial entry and exit points to manage the crowd effectively on December 31.
Security efforts will be reinforced with the deployment of anti-sabotage teams and women RPF officers to ensure a secure environment, especially for women and children. The Metro statement emphasized enhancing these measures to facilitate a smooth commuter experience during the city's festive celebrations.
