A tragic road accident unfolded on a highway in eastern Pakistan when a speeding passenger bus overturned, killing at least 10 people, according to police. Meanwhile, another incident occurred in the Naushahro Feroze district of southern Sindh province, where a passenger van collided with a truck, resulting in eight fatalities, as reported by local media.
Authorities have attributed both calamities to drivers' negligence. In the bus crash near the town of Fateh Jang in Punjab province, seven passengers sustained injuries. The ill-fated bus was on its route from Bahawalpur city to Islamabad, shared police official Mohammad Arshad.
Road accidents are distressingly common across Pakistan, where infrastructure is often poorly maintained and traffic regulations are mostly flouted. Just last month, a similar tragedy struck when a bus carrying wedding guests plunged into the Indus River in northern Pakistan, claiming 18 lives.
