In an ambitious move to modernize the dairy industry, Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu unveiled plans for a digital system to streamline milk transactions by early next year. This announcement came during the inauguration of a state-of-the-art milk-processing plant in the Duttnagar area of Rampur.
The new facility, capable of processing 50,000 litres of milk daily, was constructed at a cost of Rs 25.67 crore. Once operational, it will increase the region's processing capacity to 70,000 litres per day, serving four key districts: Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, and Kinnaur.
Approximately 20,000 farmers, associated with 271 milk cooperative societies, stand to gain from this development. The digital system promises not only to ensure prompt payments but also to provide instant updates on milk quality through SMS notifications.
