China's Maritime Vision: Xi's Chancay Port Strategy

In a significant diplomatic meeting, Chinese President Xi Jinping unveiled ambitious plans to establish a new maritime-land corridor linking China to Latin America. This strategic move was discussed during talks with Peru's President Dina Boluarte in Lima on Thursday.
The centerpiece of this initiative is the Chancay port, a project developed and controlled by the Chinese state-owned enterprise, Cosco Shipping. President Xi emphasized that this project represents a milestone within the Belt and Road Initiative, an expansive trade and infrastructure strategy central to his foreign policy.
Both leaders will officially inaugurate the port, underlining its importance in forging closer economic ties between China and Latin America, with Chancay port serving as a pivotal element of this grand vision.
