In a tragic incident near Bantwal, Dakshina Kannada district, eight school students and a driver sustained injuries when their vehicle overturned, police reported on Wednesday.

The accident, allegedly due to brake failure, happened in Peruvai village. Among those injured, two students and the driver, Muliya Ramanna, who suffered a severe head injury, are in serious condition and have been admitted to hospitals in Mangaluru and Bantwal.

The car was en route to drop children at a bus stop in Vittal. Vittal police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident.
