Stellantis is undertaking a major vehicle recall, impacting around 207,000 Jeep and Dodge SUVs across the United States. The recall addresses a critical computer malfunction that affects the anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control safety mechanisms.
The affected models include specific 2018 and 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs. According to recall documents made public by the company, a potential flaw in the brake control computer can lead to incorrect brake pressure readings.
This defect could inadvertently disable essential safety features, activate brake lights, and allow vehicle movement without applying the brake pedal. Owners will start receiving notification letters on Thursday, and inquiries can be directed to Stellantis customer service at (800) 853-1403.
